The Ask
In my senior capstone line development class, my group and I were tasked with creating a contemporary collection from concept to consumer. Working collaboratively, we built a brand, defined its ethos, and developed a line that focused on the 5 senses and cotton fabrics, incorporating sensory experiences across our design, textiles, and overall brand touchpoints.

The Team
I collaborated on this semester-long project with merchandisers Sophia Nelson, Jada Cross, Joe Dellacorte, and designers Cat Piccioli and Shyenne Farrell.
Given the intensity and scope of the project, our team met several times each week despite all our busy schedules, working through compromises and aligning on decisions to ensure a cohesive outcome. Each team member contributed their unique skills and diverse perspectives, providing valuable insights and enhancing the quality of our work.
By combining different approaches to design and attention to detail, we were able to effectively blend ideas and produce a cohesive, exciting final collection. As team leader, this experience not only highlighted my leadership and organizational abilities within a collaborative setting but strengthened all team members overall communication, problem-solving, and collaborative skills.
The Process
Guided by our brand values and central theme, and inspired by the five senses, we began by developing a brand inspiration and concept board, defining our target customer, and selecting textiles, trims, and cotton finishes to incorporate throughout the collection. As a team, we each designed 5-10 sketches, then refined the selection to eight finalized styles supported by detailed flats.
We continued by building cost sheets using Turkey sourcing guidelines and accurate yardage estimates, followed by creating line sheets, a complete tech pack, and a structured assortment plan. To complete the project, we developed a marketing strategy along with a realistic marketing budget. This process allowed us to experience the full lifecycle of a collection—from ideation and textile choices to pricing, planning, and presenting the final line.
Our brand, Anecdote, is inspired by capturing life’s little moments. We aim to offer a sense of calm, comfort, and confidence in a fast-paced world. Through contemporary, cozy knitwear designed to move with you, our goal is to remind you that the small moments are often the most meaningful. Crafted with intention and attention to detail, our pieces bring peace of mind, support, and purpose to every part of your day, wherever it may lead.
Our collection, “Between the Lines,” reflects this philosophy. It is an invitation to slow down and feel more, celebrating the unplanned moments that often matter most. With a focus on texture, quality, and ease, the collection is designed to carry you through life’s in-between moments—the ones that leave the biggest impact.

The Outcome
