Fashion Throughout the Years
The Ask
In my Fashion History class, we completed a semester-long project where I was tasked with creating a “morgue file”—a slide deck containing concise yet detailed summaries of womenswear and menswear trends, along with key historical style influences from the Victorian era through the 1980s. The project also required highlighting a notable designer from each period. The morgue file was designed to serve as a clear, efficient guide to essential fashion history information.
The Process
I conducted thorough research using a wide range of fashion and historical sources to identify key trends, influences, and style inspirations across different eras and decades. I really enjoyed working on this project, as I’ve always loved fashion, history, and the interconnection of the two.
It was a wonderful reminder of things I already knew, as well as an opportunity to learn new insights about fashion and society throughout various periods.
